Cue-ball control starts with repeatable speed, not power. Practise on a clean table, mark starting points and record the outcome.

Stop shot

Place an object ball near the centre line and set the cue ball straight behind it. Strike centre-ball at a soft pace and check whether the cue ball stops after contact. Increase distance in small steps.

Draw

Put the cue ball behind the object ball on the same line, chalk the tip and strike below centre without a sudden acceleration. Aim for the same draw distance ten times, not the longest possible retreat.

Position zone

Imagine a target square where the cue ball should finish after a simple pot. Count only shots that finish inside it; this trains decision-making rather than lucky potting.

Stop when fatigue changes your delivery. Consistent mechanics are more valuable than another dozen repetitions.
