Choose pool cloth for the table format, playing load and target speed. Order a cut large enough for the rails as well as the bed; bed area alone is not enough.

Fibre and speed

Compare wool-nylon fabrics by density, nap direction and intended use. Clubs need wear resistance and consistency, while a home table may justify a price-versus-speed compromise.

Measuring the cut

Measure the playing field, rail width and tuck depth. Ready-made sets are often format-specific; when buying a roll, allow working surplus and keep the nap direction consistent.

Installation and care

Cloth is stretched wrinkle-free, with slate and rail seams positioned according to the maker's diagram. Brush it after play, keep drinks off the bed and apply chalk sparingly.
