Multiple slate sections make a full-size table possible to move through a building, but each piece is heavy and vulnerable at its edges. Delivery, joining, and leveling should be treated as one technician-led process.

Receiving the shipment

Transport slate upright on a rigid pallet, protect the corners, and keep other freight off the top. Photograph the packaging and inspect for cracks, chips, and thickness markings on arrival. A hairline fracture can become visible only after cloth tension is applied.

Making the joins

The frame must be rigid, with clean seams and no height step. A technician cleans the mating faces, brings the pieces into one plane, and fills the fine seam with a compatible compound. Tightening bolts without measurements can create damaging point stress.

Leveling sequence

Check the assembled plane with a long level or professional leveling system in several directions. Install cushions and cloth only afterward. If the floor settles, repeat the leg adjustment after the table has acclimated.
