A jump cue is shorter and built for raising the cue ball over an obstacle. Length, weight and tip support the technical shot, but they do not remove safety or rule requirements.

Check whether your club or event allows jump cues. Inspect breakdown speed, joint, tip and case. Practise on a clear table: a poor angle can damage cloth or send the cue ball dangerously high.

If you rarely need a jump, learn the basic motion with a normal cue under supervision first. Buy a specialised cue when its role is clear in your game.
