A tip or bumper replacement can extend a cue's life, but a warped or cracked shaft may make repair poor value. Compare the total cost and expected reliability.

When repair makes sense

Local issues—worn tip, ferrule, bumper thread or dirty finish—are usually diagnosable and fixable. If the cue's geometry and familiar feel matter, repair preserves that setup.

When replacement wins

A cracked shaft, delamination, recurring warp or damaged joint can require expensive work without a lasting guarantee. Compare the estimate with a new cue at the same performance level and the waiting time.

Decide from measurements

Ask the technician to measure runout, joint condition and shaft diameter. Get a written estimate, warranty and service-life expectation. Do not decide on emotion or the lowest quote alone.
